Jefferson County Post Hosts Fourth Primary Debate at Historic Courthouse
The Jefferson County Post proudly hosted its fourth Primary Debate last night at the Historic Courthouse in Downtown Dandridge, continuing a tradition held every governor’s election cycle. The evening brought together candidates, community members, and local leaders for a thoughtful and engaging discussion about the future of Jefferson County.
The Post extends its sincere appreciation to every candidate who took the stage. Their willingness to participate in open debate reflects a commitment to transparency, public service, and the democratic process. We also thank all candidates across the county who have stepped forward to run for office this year. Offering oneself for public service requires dedication, courage, and a genuine desire to serve the citizens of Jefferson County.
The community’s turnout was exceptional, filling the courthouse and underscoring the strong civic spirit that defines our county. We are grateful to the residents who attended, submitted questions, and demonstrated once again that local politics matter deeply. An informed and engaged public is the foundation of effective self‑government, and last night’s participation was a powerful reminder of that truth.
We also extend a special thank‑you to our moderator, Dr. John McGraw, whose steady leadership and personable style guided the evening with clarity and professionalism. His ability to foster meaningful dialogue while keeping the debate accessible and respectful contributed greatly to the event’s success.
As Jefferson County moves further into the 2026 election season, The Post remains committed to providing fair coverage, public forums, and opportunities for voters to hear directly from those seeking to represent them. Last night’s debate was a testament to the strength of our community and the shared belief that informed citizens make strong counties.
Thank you again. – Jeff Depew, Editor
