Tennessee Supreme Court Appoints Andrew Farmer to Board of Professional Responsibility
Sevierville attorney and House Judiciary Committee chairman brings 18 years of legal practice and 14 years of legislative service
The Tennessee Supreme Court has appointed Sevierville attorney and State Representative Andrew Farmer to the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Supreme Court of Tennessee. Farmer currently chairs the Tennessee House Judiciary Committee and brings 18 years of legal practice and 14 years of service in the Tennessee General Assembly to the position.
The Court made the appointment in an order filed September 29, 2026, pursuant to Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, Section 4. Farmer’s term began on that date and runs through December 31, 2027. The order provides that he is eligible for reappointment to two additional terms.
The Board of Professional Responsibility administers Tennessee’s attorney disciplinary system under the supervision of the Supreme Court. Its work supports professional accountability, public protection, and confidence in the legal profession.
“I am deeply honored by the Tennessee Supreme Court’s decision to appoint me to the Board of Professional Responsibility,” Farmer said. “Throughout my career as an attorney and legislator, I have seen the importance of public confidence in our justice system. I look forward to serving with fellow board members to uphold the ethical obligations of our profession.”
Farmer has practiced law in East Tennessee for nearly two decades. As chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, he also participates in legislative work concerning the courts, civil and criminal law, and the administration of justice. His appointment adds the perspective of a practicing Sevier County attorney to the statewide board.
“Practicing law is a public trust,” Farmer added. “It is a privilege to serve my community in the courtroom and in the General Assembly, and I appreciate the opportunity to serve the people of Tennessee in this additional capacity.”
