McCord adds swimmer to inaugural signing class

Carson-Newman swim coach Paige Tindall McCord has announced the signing of Timothy Hogue to the swim program’s inaugural signing class.

Hogue is a native of Kingsport, Tenn. and a product of Sullivan South High School. He is the son of Mike and Mary Hogue.

“Timothy brings a strong breaststroke and middle freestyle to our men’s squad,” Tindall McCord said. “I am really looking to expand upon the training he has done in high school and on his own this year to help him reach his full potential going into his sophomore year.

“With a year of navigating Carson-Newman done, Timothy will provide wisdom and leadership for our large group of new freshman coming in.”

Hogue was named most valuable swimmer his senior year on the Sullivan South swim team. He helped the Rebels to three state swim meet appearances – participating in the 100 free, 200 free, 500 free and 100 breaststroke his senior year.

The 5-10, 153 pound Hogue landed in first place in the 100 breaststroke at regionals in his senior year.

Hogue is also accomplished in the class room as well as the pool. He graduated from Sullivan South with honors and picked up an Algebra I award along the way. He was a member of the Beta Club.

Hogue said he picked C-N because it felt like home and the addition of the swim team.

He joins eight other athletes as the first swimmers in C-N history.
