Trend… The Walking Dead

caroline-graham-swann-small2Hello darlings, as all know whom read my column, it is about fashion ,society and trends.

This article is about a major trend, one that has become a cult status for Sunday night TV viewers. The whole evening is planned around a television series, The Walking Dead, that airs at 9pm on Sunday nights.

Nothing but nothing interfers with missing this show and the moment it starts there is silence and rapt attention to the zombies that have been infected with a plague that has no known cure.

The survivers are down to the rawest form of humanity and how to deal with the apocalypse zombies. Zombies feed on the healthy living small group of survivers and are constantly being stalked by the ravaged, horrrid and putrid zombies, known as The Walking Dead.

If bitten by a zombie, the surviver is instantly infected with the deadly plague, so the small group of survivors are diived into two forts, one is a prison and Woodbury, a small town. Their existance depends on keeping the flesh eating putrid zombies away form their safety zones.

Now , believe me , I do not want to frighten anyone in this area, but there is an identical zombie that escaped from a plague ravaged area. Yes, the zombie is walking ,lurking in our area at this moment!!!!

Not!…But a local resident that actually played the part of a zombie on The Walking Dead is among us!!

Susie Jarnigan had the extremely interesting experience of playing the part of zombie on The Walking Dead. Her sister Amy Blanc Lacy is a script supervisor on the hit series, The Walking Dead. She called Susie to say they needed, “Walkers”…( zoombies ) the next day.

So, Susie jumped in the car and headed to the location, near Atlanta. Her casting call was at 11:30, Oct.30th,2012. First , she signed in and then had to sign papers that she would not reveal the location of site for filming the series

Next stop, the make up trailor…where blacking was applied to her teeth, then grey spray on hands and exposed areas for ashen look and black make up around hair line and face. Susie’s hair was styled to to look wild .

Trailer two was the wardrobe area and the clothing for each zombie had been selected and given to the actors for their apparel.

Rehearsal came next, and the zombie squad was told to walk funny, lean to one side and move with slow motion.

Susie said it was cold that day surrounded by a grove of trees!

The Walking Dead episode in which Susie Jarnagin appears will air Sunday, March 24th at 9pm on AMC.

The Walking Dead, has received many awards, one of the most important was the Emmy Award for prosthetic make up.

Merle Dixon, played by Mike Rooker and Michone, played by Danai Gurira, were such talented strong actors actors according to Susie. Mike Rooker, with his famous, The Walking Dead, prosthetic arm had his picture snapped with Susie. His autograph for Susie read ” to the sweetest zombie I know.”

The Walking Dead series originated with an action comic book, the TV program was a spin off from the book. What success!!!!

Our citizens of Dandridge are always doing such suurprising and interesting things. Congratulation to Susie on a job well done!
