League Of Women Voters Meeting, April 9, 2013

The League of Women Voters of Jefferson County will hold its monthly program on Tuesday, April 9,7:00 PM, at the Appalachian Electric Cooperative, 1109 Hill Street in New Market.
Traditionally the League’s April meeting is a legislative briefing and this year is a slight variation on that theme. As a recent survey showed, approximately 60% of Americans say they do not know how the Affordable Care Act will affect them. The League’s April meeting will focus on the Affordable Care Act and is a prelude to next season, when plans are to feature more programs on how this new law will affect Tennesseans.

For April, Ranee Randby, Communications Director for the Community Health Alliance–Tennessee’s new health insurance CO-OP–will present information on her organization’s part in health reform for Tennessee, as it relates to both employers and individuals. She will be providing a wealth of information and resources regarding the Affordable Care Act.

League members and the community at large are invited to attend. The April meeting concludes this season’s program schedule, which is the second Tuesday of the month. The League will hold its annual potluck dinner and meeting in May and will resume its regular program schedule again in September.
The League of Women Voters is nonpartisan and welcomes new members, men and women alike. Meetings and programs are open to the public. For more information contact Membership Coordinator Linda Lawson, 397-8477.
