Spring is such a perfect time to wear the most beautiful hats. The favorite fashion for Easter, is the crowing glory of a beautiful hat… from times past known as the “Easter Bonnet, with all the frills upon it.”
Well darlings, the Crazy Mad Hatter’s of Dallas, Texas, goes way beyond just frills!
The Crazy Mad Hatter’s is a very social, shall one say the crème de la crème of the Dallas Society.
This beautiful event is one of the 10 most anticipated parties of the spring social season and it funds the Dallas Arboretum. The Women’s Council of the Dallas Arboretum works hard all year long to plan and produce the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.
Dallas socialites have been designing their very special unique hats, keeping their design a secret, because a winner is chosen for the most charming, interesting and beautiful hat made with live flowers, moss and leaves.
Also a Group Category , a table of 8 friends select a color and theme to match, hoping to be the chosen Mad Hatter’s Tea Table !!!
It is such a colorful exhibit of imagination and creativity…one will think the lady with the bird cage surrounded by brilliant flowers… and a live bird in the cage singing a sweet song to greet all , will be the winner, … But , no, wait,.. Another lovely lady arrives with a fountain on top of her hat and water trickling down, with the melodic sound of a fountain in Italy, all entwined with the most luscious fresh flowers. See what I mean !!??
The whole event would surprise Alice in Wonderland and make the Mad Hatter having tea with Alice jealous! Indeed it is a show to surpass Broadway.
My friend, Yvonne Crum, was so very kind to send the photos that really give my readers a glimpse of the hats. She and her friends always look so beautiful and interesting each year for the Crazy Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. One can only imagine what hats they will be wearing on April 11, 2013. It is a fact, the Dallas Arboretum will have the scent of “zillions” of flowers coming from the hats and a blaze of color so beautiful only natural flowers and trees can manifest.
Yvonne Crum is a leading lady in Dallas society and is so involved in numerous charities that help so many needy people, She has been honored with the highest awards the arts and charities may bestow .
She is a legend in her own time and I am so proud to call her my friend. We have known each other 30 years or more. Thank you, Yvonne, .for sharing a slice of the splendor that only Dallas exhibits!
