Eagles complete play at Lander Bearcat Classic

The Carson-Newman men’s golf team finished the three-round Lander Bearcat Classic at the Greenwood Country Club, Tuesday afternoon.

The Eagles competed alongside three nationally-ranked clubs in Belmont Abbey, USC Aiken and Georgia Southwestern.

The three ranked teams grabbed the three spots on the podium with Belmont Abbey seizing the win.

The Crusaders’ Adam Hedges came in first after shooting under par in all three rounds. He won the title with a three-round 206 (-10).

For the Eagles, junior Jonathan Kim-Moss (Mississauga, Canada) led his team with the Eagles’ only under par round, a three-under 69 in round two. He shot an 80 in the opening round and closed with a 76 to finish tied for 24th.

Senior Gavin Hay (Glasgow, Scotland) tied for 57th following a three-round 232 (+16).

The Eagles improved their score as a team from round to round. They started with a team total of 315 for round one before shaving it down to a 304 for the final round.

“Not our best week, but we are looking forward to hosting and playing in the conference tournament,” Carson-Newman head men’s golf coach John Minor said.

The Eagles will take to links again on April 14 at the Sevierville Golf Club where Carson-Newman will play host to the South Atlantic Conference Tournament.
