Dandridge Farmers Market Opens Saturday April 20

farmersmarketSpring weather is around the corner and the Dandridge Farmers Market starts its 6th year on April 20. This producer-only market (what you buy is grown locally by the vendors you can talk to at the market) is open Saturday’s from 9 AM until noon. The market is located in the parking lot at the corner of Gay and Meeting streets (US 25/70 and Hwy 92 South) one block north of the Jefferson County Courthouse.

This weekly newsletter for consumers will detail who and what will be at each market, and will have recipes for seasonally-available foods. Look for our ads in all local newspapers.

If you are a local grower in Jefferson, Hamblen, Cocke, Sevier, Knox or Grainger counties, and would like to sell at the Farmers Market, please visit www.mainstreetdandridge.com/Farmers_Market.html to download an application and the 2013 Rules. Fruits, vegetables, foods produced under a domestic kitchen or commercial kitchen license, meats, cheeses, and other food producers are welcome to apply. Market highlights include an upcoming Food Fest in June and many other events for both children and adults. Be on the lookout for announcements about public meetings to provide input on what should be included in a permanent Farmers Market/ Public Pavilion for the Town of Dandridge. The Dandridge Farmers Market was part of the 25th Anniversary Tour of Pick Tennessee Products and is becoming a member of the newly created Tennessee Association of Farmers Markets.
