New Market VFD's Annual Easter Parade Packs The Streets Saturday

The New Market community gathered on Saturday morning to celebrate the coming of Easter with their annual Easter Parade. Children lined the streets, Easter baskets in hand, to see the line of fire engines, tiny cars, floats and horses and riders make the trek down Old Andrew Johnson Highway. Some of the young residents of New Market took part in the parade, riding in antique cars or driving their own small vehicles. The parade was heavily attended by the community and the weather cooperated to make the event a success. Though there are several ways that Jefferson County residents usher in Easter, from Easter Egg Hunts to Easter themed performances, the New Market parade is the only Easter parade in the County and has become a favorite among children and adults alike.
