Bass Masters Southern Open On Douglas Lake

For the second time in a week, the waters of Douglas Lake are filled with anglers looking for the big catch. The Bass Master Southern Open launched on Thursday morning and will continue through the final weigh this (Saturday) afternoon. Douglas Lake is becoming a hot spot for Bass Tournaments, thanks, in part, to the work of Adele Sensing, Director of Tourism and Membership for the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce. Three tournaments will be hosted on Douglas Lake this Spring, beginning  with the PAA Tournament that took place the last week of March, the Bass Master Southern Open that is currently in progress and winding up with the B.A.S.S. Nation Southern Divisional Championship on April 24th-26th. The influx of anglers, spectators and vendors makes for quite a show in the water and on the banks of the lake. Though participants had a wet kickoff for the Bass Master Southern Open, the weather is forecasted to steadily improve through the weekend. Spectators were parked at the Dike in downtown Dandridge on Friday, taking advantage of the spectacle of speeding boats and fancy casting by some of the best anglers in the Nation.
