Eagles improve 13 strokes at day two of Agnes McAmis Memorial

Carson-Newman’s women’s golf team improved 13 strokes for round two of the Agnes McAmis Memorial tournament Tuesday in Greeneville, Tenn.

C-N finished tied for 12th Monday.

The Eagles shot a 334 before following it with a 321 in the second round.

With a new day, the women completed round two, tying with opponents, University of North Georgia.

“We had a better round today (Tuesday), but we finished well below where we are capable of finishing,” Carson-Newman head women’s golf coach Amanda Moore said.

Tusculum College won the event with a two-day total of 615. Nationally ranked Lander finished behind the Pioneers.

The Eagles were led by junior Mary Tunnell (Cordova, Tenn.) and senior Lauren Hodge (Jefferson City, Tenn.), who both tied for 33rd with 162s.

“We will continue to work hard to prepare for the conference tournament next week,” Moore said.

The women, along with men’s team will take to the link again April 14 when they play host to the SAC Conference Tournament at the Sevierville Golf Club.
