Lady Eagles fall at Brevard

Carson-Newman (8-11, 2-6 SAC) lost to Brevard (5-12, 3-6 SAC) on the road Friday afternoon 4-5.

Freshman Brooke Sanderson (Evans, Ga.) performed well at no. 5 singles and brought home a victory. She beat Nirvana Silva 6-0, 6-1 to win back-back matches. Patricia Guerreiro (Portugal) triumphed over Michelle Prata at no. 2 singles with a 7-6 (10-6), 6-1 final score.

At no. 3 singles, Haleigh Chastain (Knoxville, Tenn.) neared a win against Katie Ouellette but dropped the match in heartbreaking fashion 7-6 (10-4), 7-6 (10-4).

Megan Wilson (Maryville, Tenn.) took a point at no. 6 singles by default.

In doubles play, Stefy Stand (Ecuador) and Guerreiro played a tough match against Prata and Claire Dillman before losing 8-6 in the no. 1 spot.

At no. 3 doubles, Sanderson and Wilson won by default.

The Lady Eagles play their final regular season match at home Sunday at 1:00 p.m. against Mars Hill.
