First team all-SAC selections lead Eagles into SAC tourney at Sevierville Golf Club

Carson-Newman’s men’s golf team has something no other team in the field of 10 at the SAC men’s golf tournament can claim – a pair of first team All-SAC selections.

Gavin Hay (Glasgow, Scotland) and Jonathan Kim-Moss (Mississauga, Canada) both earned first team all-conference honors from the South Atlantic Conference.

Both players tied with 73.97 scoring averages.

They hope to lead C-N to its first SAC championship since 2004.

The Eagles will tee off on the Sevierville Golf Club’s River Course at 10 a.m.

“Our team’s playing better now than it has been all year,” Hay said. “Having a home course advantage and a solid game plan from (C-N head men’s golf coach John) Minor should be a key to our success.”

Hay made the all-conference first team in 2011 and 2012, while Kim-Moss was a 2012 first team selection.

Hay garnered three top 10 finishes in his senior season, including a tournament championship at the Tusculum Invitational.

Kim-Moss meanwhile picked up a pair of top 10 finishes. He took third at the TVA Community Credit Union Invitational in October.

The Eagles finished in a tie for eighth when they opened the year at the SGC with the Smoke Mountain Intercollegiate. Kim-Moss had a two-day 143 (-1) to finish in a tie for third.
