Local firefighters received a sweet thank you from grateful Pigeon Forge businesses last week. Last month, fire threatened cabins, homes and businesses in the Pigeon Forge area and Firefighter from surrounding counties joined in the vigorous effort to control the threatening blaze. As a thank you for the effort and support in controlling the damage wrought by the fast spreading flames, local firefighters were treated to delicious cakes and other sweet treats. Firefighters from 48 different departments were on hand to fight the monstrous and costly fire that tallied almost $12 million dollars in damages. Firefighters have been heralded as heroes for maintaining the damage to a relatively confined area and the dedication that was shown in fighting the dangerous fire. Though almost 300 Firefighters were on the scene, struggling to control the blaze for more than 24 hours, there were no serious injuries reported. Last week’s thank you treats were just one of many gestures that the Pigeon Forge community has made to show their gratitude for a job well done.
