Two Jefferson County High School students are among a select group that will attend Summer Seminars at West Point and the United States Naval Academy. Farrah Hodge and Ian Greer were chosen to participate based on exceptional academic standing, community service, and high ACT scores. Both Greer and Hodge are rising seniors at Jefferson County High School and are busy preparing for the rigors of Summer Seminar sessions. Greer, whose interest lies in nuclear engineering, will attend the Summer Seminar at West Point. He has plans to attend West Point upon graduation and is already in the pre-application process, which involves congressional recommendations.

Hodge will attend the United States Naval Academy Summer Seminar. She plans to use the time at the Academy to get a good overview of their facility before making a final college choice. Her career plans are not yet definite, however, she is investigating criminal psychology or international journalism. Ian and Farrah have been training for the intense physical aspect of the seminars and expect to be ready to meet the challenge by the time that their respective seminars convene.
