Patriots Advance To 14-7 With Victory Over Cherokee

The Jefferson County Patriots today played at home against Cherokee High School. After trading back and forth leads the Patriots came out on top with a 6-5 win in yet another great conference home game for Jefferson County, taking them to a 14-7 record for their 2013 season. Jefferson County took an early lead Tuesday in the bottom of the first recording a 1-0 lead. Kyle Briggs #20 with a sacrifice fly out brought Taylor Long #22 in to score and kick things off for the Patriots. Danny Bates #19 scoring for the Patriots the second time in the bottom of the second. The top of the third brought Cherokee their first run of the night taken in by Austin Crowder #3. In the same inning Hunter Price #7 of Cherokee brought in the second run of the night for his team tying up the game for the first of many to come. Jefferson County scored once in each of the second, fourth, and sixth innings. Taylor Long #22 had a great game reaching base four times for the Patriots, doubling in the first and hitting a single in the fourth inning. Ian Slagle #15 lead the Patriots to their win tonight recording only three runs in 5 innings. Striking out seven and walking three only allowing four runs in seven innings. Cherokee finished the night scoring two runs in the top of the seventh, coming close to making a comeback and tying with Jefferson County, but coming up short with closing pitcher Eli Hammer #10 putting away the final four outs to finish the night and bring in the win for the Patriots. The Jefferson County Patriots Varsity Baseball team are on a 2 game win streak hoping to lengthen that to three this Thursday, April 18th at home against Elizabethton. Where all votes are for Jefferson County to win against Elizabethton at home.
