Lincoln-Reagan Day Dinner Fashion

caroline-graham-swann-small2Women at the Lincoln-Reagan Day Dinner were so beautiful in an array of spring color and fashion.  Immediately upon walking into the Stokely Memorial Cafeteria at Carson-Newman University Saturday night a blaze of colorful suits, dresses, jackets, sweaters, shoes, bags and dazzling elephant jewelry was on festive display.

Linda Larson was truly a shining example of the spring metallic trend. Her soft gold ombre metallic jacket was worn over an orange print top.  Black pencil slacks, a gold bracelet studded with diamonds and even her nails were polished in a taupe metallic hue with sparkling tiny crystals around just the tip of the nails.

Betty Fain chose “RED, RED, RED” she said about her suit piped in a black cord while greeting guests at the ticket table. She looked so attractive in red with her fair complexion.

Marie Johnston was in an orchid top, looking so great with a deep charcoal pin stripe jacket and pants completing her look.  Vickie Forgety donned a navy silk suit with a beautiful cocoanut white lace cami. Lace is a big fashion trend for the spring and summer season and she looked so feminine in the pretty pale lace.  She completed her look with a lovely elephant bracelet which was a gift from a friend. The elephant head was sparkling with stones and two delicate rows of white gold connected to the closing link.

The next beautiful elephant pin I saw was worn by Mildred Monrue from Union County. Her pin was designed with ruby eyes and the elephant wearing a top hat with ruby stripes. Mildred looked so elegant in her coral linen suit. Constance Hightower from Hamblen County wore her elephant pin on a cobalt blue jacket. Gold, blazing with diamonds and ruby eyes, the elephant pin was stunning. Constance says she wears the pin all the time with everything, not just to republican events. Lisa Bryant had the most unique elephant purse, she said it was a gift from Judge Duane Sloan when he first ran for office fifteen years ago. Lisa is Judge Sloan’s assistant and helped with his election.  The elephant bag, structured to stand alone, was of a tortoise shell hue and such a rich look. It was designed by Beverly Hills designer, Timmy Woodson.

Pat Rugel had the unique and sought after bags in her shop at Jefferson City.  Pat has such exquisite taste!

Paula Rugel-Gibson donned another very fashionable trend, a black stripe in a diagonal pattern on white back ground.  The tunic was so becoming on her. Marie DeVault from Granger County looked like a doll in a powder pink suit with pale pink seed pearls. She had a lovely string of pearls given to her by her father- in- law- her favorite jewelry. Sue Hoke’s Native American inspired designer jacket was so interesting, red painted symbols over black, topped slim black slacks and completed her fashion for the evening. Sue is to be commended for her work in the Republican Party, as well as her sense of style. Marsha Sexton chose a black jacket with jet beading and a darling gathered back. She looked so slim!  Rhonda Davis, with her beautiful red hair, looked radiant in a black cashmere cardigan trimmed with gold beads over black pencil silk pants.

Heather Downs from Knox County was a breath of spring in a periwinkle blue ruffled blouse.  Jennifer Cureton and her husband Dennis Cureton were so adorable dressed to match!! She wore a purple blouson silk top and he wore a purple stripe shirt and deep purple tie.  Dennis said they had chosen to dress in the same color…and they were the, “DENIFERS” of Jefferson County!!!  Such a fun couple!  Kendra Kisbeth was a picture of perfection in a short grey metallic jacket over a blue sheath dress.   Robbie Morgan wore such an interesting sweater and cardigan designed with thin wooden pieces in several shapes embellishing the cardigan adding an elegant, earthy twist to the evening.  Lori Tucker, had the casual but elegant look of Ralph Lauren in a spring orange jacket and white skirt… priceless.

Ashley West wore the fashion trend of the season, which I love so much- the high/low dress. Her black chiffon dress was cut short in the front and flowing into a longer length in the back. Jet bead jewelry and straps of silk sandals looked so beautiful.  Helen Faye White chose another fashion trend, the color orange is a luscious spring/summer trend.  She looked so youthful in an orange cardigan designed in a very short length over a sheath dress.  A grapefruit pink jacket looked just like a touch of summer on Phyllis Morgan, she accessorized with silver and it was so becoming. Jennifer Inman Little looked so elegant in a white cut away jacket.  She selected the jacket for her wardrobe because it goes from work to dinner and looks great for dress occasions or jeans.  I want THAT jacket! Mika Douglas was a vision in an ivory crepe sleeveless, short dress, just perfect with her porcelain complexion.  Penny Douglas, her attractive mother, chose a gold metallic, open sleeves dress with a deeper color of gold satin ribbon belt.  Penny had on the most beautiful shoes. Cinderella’s glass slippers could not have been more beautiful!  The shoes looked as if they had been spun into a crystal delicate web, so ethereal and glamorous at the same time.  She said they belonged to her daughter, Mika.  Dagmar, A tall thin blonde from Germany, sorry Dagmar, did not get your last name as we were rushing out the door…had the look of a fashion model in a candy pink fitted jacket.

My darling readers, if I missed any of you, it is simply because of the time. Every woman attending the Jefferson County Lincoln-Reagan Day Dinner had her own special beauty and fashion sense they sparkled brightly in a room of political stars.
