Dandridge, Lakeway & New Market Fire Departments, E-911 and other first responders were on hand to fight a house fire on Cherokee Drive in Dandridge Thursday evening. Residents on the street noticed smoke emanating from the roof around 9pm and went to check the home. A motorist placed the emergency call and first responders were shortly on the scene. The late David and Iva Swann home suffered damage to the attic space and some smoke and water damage to common rooms. The house is owned by their grandson and his wife, Mike and Linda Rimmer, and was in the beginning stages of renovation and vacant at the time. Cherokee Drive is a thru street and heavily trafficked area. Multiple emergency vehicles were on the scene, responding to the fire, and traffic was halted for several hours on Thursday evening. The homeowners will access the damage and evaluate renovation plans accordingly. No one was injured in the Thursday evening blaze.
