Appalachian Electric Cooperative donated a tree to the new Emergency Services Combination building that houses County E-911, EMS and EMA. For the eighth year, AEC has been named a “Tree Line USA” utility by the Arbor Day Foundation. The designation is one that the company is proud of and the Friday morning ceremonial tree planting was just one example of commitment to the community that garnered AEC their designation. Beyond tree planting, education and participating in Arbor Day celebrations, the Tree Line USA program promotes worker training, quality tree care and tree-based energy conservation program. The core concepts of the program benefit both the consumer and Appalachian Electric Cooperative. Strategically placed trees decrease the number of outages due to root decay and structural issues, as well as providing appropriate canopy for energy conservation and curb appeal. Jefferson County Mayor Palmieri, Jefferson County Facilities Director Longmire, E-911 Director Justin Crowther and Jefferson County Maintenance Jeff Denton were on hand to accept the generous donation and acknowledge the importance of the partnership between Appalachian Electric Cooperative and the community.
