Moodie adds three to women’s soccer signing class

Carson-Newman director of soccer Richard Moodie has announced the signing of three student athletes to the C-N women’s soccer class of 2017. The signings bring the Eagles’ total to 12 for the year.

Kendall Morrison, Aubree Cable and Susann Kneifel are C-N’s late signees. A geographically diverse lot, Morrison hails from White House, Tenn., Cable from Battle Creek, Mich. And Kneifel from Schkeuditz, Germany.

“These last three girls should be the icing on the cake for our recruiting class of 2013,” Moodie said. “We hope that there will be come impact players among them.”

Kendall Morrison: A 5-2, forward from White House, Tenn., Morrison played for Mike Felzien at White House High School. Morrison was the Devils’ offensive MVP all four years of her high school career.

She was an all-district pick all four years, all-district tournament three years, the district’s offensive MVP two years and an all-region and all-state selection two years.

“Kendall’s a bit of a diamond in the rough coming out of White House,” Moodie said. “She loves to score goals. She just has a natural ability to put the ball in the back of the net. I’d like to think she’s going to come in and put herself amongst the caliber of players like Trenna Howell and Becky Angus.”

While with WHHS, Morrison helped the Devils to three district championships and one region championship.

Morrison is the daughter of Kenny and Lori Morrison, she’s undecided on a major at C-N.

Aubree Cable: A 5-6 midfielder out of Battle Creek, Mich., Cable transfers to C-N from Kellogg Community College. She graduated high school in 2011 from Harper Creek Community School.

A two-sport athlete, Cable garnered varsity letters in soccer and cross country, earning academic all-state honors in the latter.

“Aubree comes in with a wealth of experience with two years of collegiate soccer behind here,” Moodie said. “She’s enthusiastic and energetic which is something we need.”

She is the daughter of Angela and Darrel Cable and intends to major in nursing at Carson-Newman. Cable was a member of the National Honor Society in high school.

Susann Kneifel: A 5-5 striker from Schkeuditz, Germany, Kneifel makes her way stateside from the Sport High School of Lipzig.

Kneifel was the top scorer for the Third Division Tournament in leading her club to a district championship and a promotion to a higher division.

“She’s a natural leftie who’s very good with both feet,” Moodie said. “She’ll allow us to rearrange some things and play a few players a bit more naturally. We hope that she’ll be a recognized force within the conference, not just for C-N.”

Kneifel was a member of the U18 All-Star team and participated at the German interstate championships where she was named the MVP of her all-star team.

She was also recruited by Tusculum, Quinnipiac and The Citadel.

The daughter of Jana and Roland Kneifel, she plans to major in history at C-N.
