LOCAL EDUCATORS HONORED WITH HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTIONS

Three Jefferson County educators were recognized earlier this year as Teacher of the Year in their respective grade levels. Following their recognition in Jefferson County, State Representative Andrew E. Farmer introduced three House Joint Resolutions in their honor that were passed on March 13, 2013 in the 108th General Assembly.

On May 10th, during National Teachers’ Week, Rep. Farmer presented Channie Phagan of White Pine School and Susan Martin of Rush Strong School with resolutions passed in their honor. Rep. Farmer surprised Susan Stiner of Jefferson County High School with the resolution in her honor a couple of weeks earlier at a dinner event they both were attending on April 27th.

Channie Phagan is a first grade teacher at White Pine School. She is in her 15th year of teaching. She was presented with HJR0154 recognizing her contributions to her students, school and community.

Susan Martin is a seventh and eight grade Science teacher at Rush Strong School. She is in her 6th year of teaching at Rush Strong. She was presented with HJR0153 recognizing her dedication to her students, school and community.

Susan Stiner an eleventh and twelfth grade Math teacher at Jefferson County High School, instructing Precalculus and Honors Precalculus. She is currently in her 35th year of teaching. She was presented with HJR0152 recognizing her devotion to her students, school and community.

All three recipients are renowned for their hard work and dedication in their schools, as well as their civic involvement in their churches, their local communities, and the county.
