Garland McCoig, of Dandridge, was honored with a special dinner at Shoney’s for countless hours of service to the community by local Modern Woodmen of America members.

McCoig was honored for his dedication to the safety and well-being of the people in Jefferson County; his past service as Sheriff; his association with the Dandridge Volunteer Fire Department, Jefferson County Rescue Squad and more. In recognition of his efforts members of Modern Woodmen’s Dandridge Chapter presented McCoig with a certificate and awarded a $100 grant to the Jefferson County Rescue Squad, the charitable organization of his choice.

Coordinated by local Modern Woodmen members, chapters provide opportunities to take part in social activities and community service in the communities.  “Improving the quality of life for our members, their families and their communities is Modern Woodmen’s mission,” says Chuck Devotie, Financial Representative of Modern Woodmen. “The Hometown Heroes Program helps us acknowledge and thank volunteers across the country for doing just that.” Founded in 1883 as a fraternal benefit society, Modern Woodmen of America offers financial services and fraternal member benefits to individuals and families throughout the United States.
