White Pine Night of Stars

Big surprise for retiring long time director

Monday night White Pine Elementary and Middle School put on their annual Night of Stars, a show that provides a stage for the talents of many Cyclones. The show has run annually since 1997 and continues to be an eagerly awaited time of year by the students and community. Students gave the community a wonderful evening of entertainment and the event showcased the enormous amount of talent that can be found in the young performers. Singing, Dancing and large group acts were the fare of the evening and the packed house was appreciative of the student’s efforts. The show’s longtime director is Mrs. Pewitt, a 6th grade science teacher at the school. In response to Mrs. Pewitt’s pending retirement, students and staff were committed to send her off in style. Raegan Willis, an 8th grade student, and Gigi Sharp, a 7th grade math teacher, sang “You are Beautiful” in tribute to the retiring director. The finale was an off program flash mob which was a surprise to the retiring teacher. The school’s faculty and staff sang and danced to “Don’t Stop Believing” in honor of their co worker and in appreciation for her contribution to White Pine School. Though the show will continue on, the beloved director, teacher and Beta Club director will most assuredly be missed by the staff and students of both the past and present.
