Summer Hair Styles

Hello, Darlings. Summer 2013 is unofficially here and it is time for us fashionistas to update our hair. I must admit that some of the popular styles for this summer are much more appealing to me than others are. I am not a huge fan of the wet head look, but there is a time and place that it can work. Short, totally slicked back hair can look smart if it is combined with sharp, edgy clothing. New on the hair stage is the half and half look. The hair is slicked down from the root and down for a couple of inches and then it is messy the rest of the way down the head. Obviously, this look is for longer hair and, trendy or not, it is not a look that I think works for many people. The trouble with this look is that it tends to look greasy and unwashed rather than stylish. I certainly think that there is a time and place for the wet look and the messy look but this combination style is best left to the runway. Just another example of runway looks not translating well to real life.

The messy bun is in style this Summer and the low ponytail will also be hot in the Summer 2013. Both are a great way to help beat the heat on those warm, sunny days. The color of the Summer is platinum blond. Yes, my lovelies, I know that this shade requires tremendous upkeep but it is stunning in the bright sunlight. Perhaps a brief stint in the light hue is just the thing that you need to jazz up your locks for the Summer. Remember that this color alone is a dramatic statement so you should keep the style simple or you will run the risk of letting your hair overwhelm your beauty. I will offer this tip for those that plan to go platinum for the season-roots are not your friend with this style so regular trips to the salon will be necessary. If you do not have the time or finances for color maintenance, this look is probably not your best option.

Sixties up dos and interesting hair accessories are going to be trendy this Summer. The middle part is back, as well as a side swept bang. Of course, it is wonderful to try new trends, however it is even better to know what looks good on you. Know your maintenance preference, your time constraints (does the style require daily, time consuming care) and your budget. Also factor your lifestyle into the equation. Those that travel often need a carefree style and those that plan to spend a lot of time in the water should consult with their stylist concerning color choices. Beauty comes in many different styles and I am sure that you will find yours for Summer 2013!
