Changes On Horizon For Dandridge

The Town of Dandridge will allow beer permits inside the Historical Town Square, following a meeting last week for a third and final reading on the issue. In a 4-2 vote, with Aldermen Kesterson and Thornhill voting No and Nelson absent, the language that prevented permits in the area due to proximity to a “gathering place” was changed, though distance to schools and churches remains intact. Applicants will still be required to meet the strict stipulations of the parameters of a beer permit and will have to go before the beer board for approval.

In other significant action, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen took the necessary steps to continue the bridge relocation project by allowing the Tennessee Department of Transportation Town right of way privileges. The bridge relocation project was in stall mode pending the Town’s approval of TDOT’s request and will now continue on to the next phase. Town Administrator Peagler stated that it is likely that TDOT will stage the building process to allow for one lane and shoulder access during the construction of the new bridge. She and Town Attorney Gass informed the Board that it likely that other considerations will come before the Board in the process of replacing the bridge.
