Industrial Development Board – Property Owners Express Interest In Optioning To IDB

The Jefferson County Industrial Board met on Friday, July 25, 2014 in the Historic Jefferson County Courthouse.  The Meeting was Called to Order by Chairman Masters. Absent from Roll Call were Board Members Snodgrass, Shelton and Kisabeth.

With a Motion from Board Member Keck and 2nd from Jenkins the Minutes were Approved. The Financial Report, with a balance of $150,854, was Approved with a Motion from Worley and 2nd from Duignan.

Under Old Business, the Board was informed that research in still ongoing concerning the transfer of a 17 acre tract of land that is unusable for economic development but could be appropriate for other considerations.

Three companies, Barge Waggoner Sumner & Cannon, Inc-Cannon and Cannon, Inc and Littlejohn, Inc, made presentations as finalists for the services involved in procuring a RFP for Property Due Diligence in regard to property that is already optioned by the IDB and other property that might be optioned in the future in addition to other services. Following the three presentations and discussion, Board Member Jenkins made a Motion to suspend the rules to allow for action on choosing a company and was 2nd by Worley. The Motion Passed. Board Member Keck made a Motion to instruct Duignan, Masters and Wagley to negotiate for services with Barge Waggoner Sumner & Cannon, Inc. and was 2nd by Jenkins. Board Members noted a prior working relationship with the company, extensive list of services and local ties as deciding factors in the Approval of the Keck/Jenkins Motion.

Chairman Masters informed the Board that some property owners have expressed interest in optioning their property to the IDB and they will be presented to the Board. Director for Economic Development Wagley stated that information regarding other site evaluations and recommendations will be ready soon.
