Christmas Shopping

I don’t know about you, but I can’t believe it is so close to Christmas. I’m simply not ready. I wonder if I might be able to slow down time until I catch up. I guess not, so the only answer is for me to speed up. I love to be finished shopping and gifts all wrapped by this time.

I remember the days when shopping meant a whirl wind shopping day in Knoxville that began with the opening of store doors and ended with their closing. West Town Mall was the target destination. Stores like Persian were preferred, as they not only wrapped, they also held packages until you were ready to leave the mall. This is a courtesy that is never seen today.

After marking off as many gifts from the list as possible, it was into the car for Targets with high hopes of finishing the list. Of course, that would not be the case, and on to the next destination we went. There was always that one gift that just eluded our grasp, leading us from store to store before finally finding it. And, there was always one person on my list that I was just undecided about for the perfect gift. This was when my daughter would insist that I make a choice.

At the end of the day, we dragged ourselves home, car filled to the hilt with gifts, both wrapped and unwrapped. We were both exhausted, but we were finished, just in time for Christmas. Today, I shop in a very different way. I found internet shopping a few years ago, and I no longer sacrifice my body for the perfect gifts.
