The Grand Old Party held their annual local convention on Saturday morning, January 24, 2015 in the Historic Jefferson County Courthouse. State Representatives, Senator Frank Niceley, Representative Andrew Farmer and Representative Jeremy Faison were in attendance, as well as several local elected officials. Chancellor Telford Forgety offered the invocation and sitting Chairwoman Paula Gibson led the meeting. Several local Party officers were re elected to serve the Republican Party for another term.

Gibson will serve another stint as Chair and Barry Fain will do another two years as Vice Chair, with David Oatney winning the 2nd Vice Chair seat. Secretary for the local Party will be Linda Larson and Sue Hoak will be the keeper of the coffers as Treasurer. Rounding out the officer election was Regina Seale as Vice Treasurer and Stan Shaw as the Jefferson County GOP’s Senior Chair.

County Commissioner Rob Blevins, of the 6th District, donated a tree to be planted on behalf of the Republican Party in memory of Bobby Vesser. A dedicated member of the GOP, Vesser served the political organization in various capacities throughout the years, with the most recent as the Senior Chair. Vesser, who was serving as an officer at the time of his death, passed away in June of 2014.
