Why Did the County Commission Meet Twice?

Asked AnsweredI was curious as to why the County Commission met twice this week. I was planning to attend their meeting and ask a couple of questions about some things going on in the County but I missed the meeting because I though it was this upcoming week. Why the change?

Generally, the Jefferson County Commission meets on the second and third Monday of the month, with the exception of a couple of months that have no meetings, unless they are special called, which they often are. Occasionally, one of the meetings falls on a holiday and is moved to another date, usually the following Tuesday. In the case of the March meetings, it is true that there was very little time between the work session on Monday and voting meeting on Thursday. However, the change in meeting dates was to allow Commissioners to be free for Jefferson County School’s spring break, which starts this week. Several of the Commissioners have children or are employed by the schools or their spouse is employed by the schools. Should they all be absent at the same time the Commission runs the risk of not having a quorum.
