Porch Floral Decoration – Mother-in-Law Tongue

Asked AnsweredI am looking for a good plant to go outside on my front porch and was wondering if Mother in Law Tongue would do well. I understand that it is generally an indoor plant but I think that it would look nice.

Also known as a snake plant, Mother in Law’s Tongue is a sub succulent. This plant may do fine in the summer but will not likely survive the local winter temperatures. Much depends on if you plan to take the plant indoor during the fall and winter or if it would remain outside all year. It is zoned for much warmer climates and likes full sun. If you are planning to put it in a planter, that might work well because they seem to do a little better in confined areas but it will have to be taken in during milder temperatures. This plant will also not do well if we have a rainy season, as they tend to get tip burn from over watering.
