The University of Tennessee Lady Volunteers hosted the University of Georgia Lady Bulldogs in their last regular season home game for 2015-2016 season.  The seniors, Bashaara Graves, Jamine Jones, and Nina Moore, were honored just before the game, with their families, by The University and the Lady Vols coaching staff.

The Lady Volunteers busted out of the gate and quickly pulled ahead, outscoring Georgia 22-4 in the first quarter.  Georgia would try to rally in the second, and actually outscored Tennessee 20-18, but it just wasn’t enough to catch the Lady Vols.

Tennessee maintained a 18-20 point lead throughout the whole game, and made this victory look easy, speeding past the Lady Bulldogs 80-60.

Bahaara Graves got her 29th career double-double, with 12 points and 10 rebounds.  She ends the regular season with 8, tied for one of the highest of all time for senior seasons with the Lady Vols.

Diamond DeShields shined bright on Sunday afternoon, with 22 points; she got her sixth 20 or more point performance of the season.

Te’a Cooper also came up strong, with 21 points.  Cooper ran 10-14 for the game, but only 1-4 from the freethrow line.

Courtney Dunbar saw a bit more playing time than she’s seen for a few games, playing a total of 15 minutes.  During that 15 minutes she added 6 to the board from beyond the arch.

Injured Jasmine Jones got to see about 15 seconds of playing time to end her career as a Lady Vol.  The senior, who is still on the injury list, announced that her career is over due to a head injury.

The Lady Vols also saw a better scoring average than they have been experiencing.  They averaged 46.1% for the game, and even 27.3% from three point range.  From the foul line, though, they have seen better days, only going 4-13 for freethrows.

Next, the Tennessee Lady Volunteers will travel to Jacksonville, to begin the 2016 SEC Tournament.  They will face off against Arkansas once again on Thursday at 6.  The Lady Vols will be entering the tournament as a seventh seed.
