JAMES (JIM) WOODS

WOODS, JAMES ISAAC (JIM), age 57 of New Market, TN died March 7, 2018, at home surrounded by those he loved. He was born October 9, 1960, to the late Hubert Henry and Eula Genevieve Hurst Woods. Jim was a happy man. He liked to laugh and entertain others with his funny stories and quick wit. He loved spending time outdoors. He enjoyed gardening and especially enjoyed camping and hiking in the Smoky Mountains. He was a truck driver for 30 years, until the diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 2009. Jim received excellent health care from his primary care physician, Dr. Phillip Watson and staff and neurologist, Dr. Darrell Thomas and staff. The family is very grateful for the loving care and support of our church family at Grace Point Baptist Church, and for the love and care shown from the pastors and congregation of Church Street United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Rev. H. Wayne Woods, his brother-in-law, John C. Shepard and his father-in-law, Floyd Oliver Burns. He is survived by his wife, Kelly Burns Woods; daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Matt Lougheed; twin grandbabies, Oakley Elisabeth and Oliver Matthew Lougheed; sister, Sandra Shepard; brother and sister-in-law, Chris and LaShon Woods; sister and brother-in-law, Ginger and David Quillin; mother-in-law, Sarah Oakley Burns; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Rodney and Ruth Burns, Mike and Penny Huff, Angie Nicely; Jeff and Karen Williams; close friends, Steve and Barbara Julian; and his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will receive friends Friday, March 9 from 5:00 to 7:00 at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City with funeral service at 7:00 with Rev. George Miller and Rev. Dr. Bruce Martin officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, March 10 at Pollard Cemetery in Kodak for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service and interment.
