Waltke, New Supervisor of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction

In a statement from Dr. Shane Johnston, Director of Schools –

Mrs. Kristi Waltke has been hired as the Supervisor of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction. She will also continue to oversee the district’s comprehensive Response to Intervention program.

“This is an exciting day for Mrs. Waltke and for Jefferson County Schools. Over the years, she has served in multiple roles and provided valuable resources to teachers and students. Mrs. Waltke has a strong commitment to make sure the district reaches every child and helps provide the needed resources for all staff members.” (Johnston)

Mrs. Waltke is in her 21st year of education and currently holds an Educational Specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University. During her educational career, Mrs. Waltke has served as a classroom teacher, literacy coach, assistant principal, principal, and elementary literacy specialist.

Currently, Mrs. Sherry Finchum holds the position of Supervisor of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction. The veteran Jefferson County Schools educator is retiring June 30, 2020.

Mrs. Waltke will begin her new duties on July 1, 2020.
