1978 Carson-Newman University alumna Mary McDonald will be in a benefit concert at C-N on Tuesday, Feb. 26

Knoxville musician Mary McDonald will appear at Carson-Newman University on Tuesday, February 26, at 7:30 p.m. in a concert to benefit the scholarship fund of Delta Omicron.

Alpha Gamma Chapter of Delta Omicron International Music Fraternity will present the benefit concert, which will be held in C-N’s Thomas Recital Hall.

McDonald is a multi-talented musician and a 1978 C-N alumna. In addition to her work as a composer, arranger, pianist, organist, she was a sacred choral editor for The Lorenz Corporation for more than 20 years and has served as both organist and pianist for Knoxville’s Central Baptist Church.

“She is one of our most prestigious music alumni as a composer and arranger of church music,” said Ann Jones, C-N professor of music.

McDonald is a well-known composer of more than 700 choral anthems, many seasonal cantatas, and keyboard collections.

McDonald and her husband, Brian, a Knoxville architect, have been married for 34 years and have two married children and two grandchildren.
