The highly anticipated Shakin’ the Lake event came to Douglas Lake on Saturday. The day long event cumulated in an evening that lit up the night sky. Generally a part of the County’s Fourth of July line up, this year heavy rains and storms pushed the date back and, as has been the norm this summer, Saturday’s weather was a little touch and go. That did not stop locals from coming out and enjoying the day at the Point Marina in Dandridge, nor did it lessen the excitement that always surrounds Shakin’ the Lake.

After a Friday night kick off with Hillbilly Outlaws, Grits provided the music for Saturday night. Beautiful fireworks were the main event of the evening and locals were not disappointed at the extensive display. Shakin’ the Lake has become one the premiere events for the summer season and comes courtesy of the Point Marina and a handful of local sponsors including CNB, Don Rose, Tinsley Bible Drug Store, Service One Electric, City of Dandridge, Dandridge Merchants Association and Smoky Mountain Knife Works.
