COAT Names Representative Andrew Farmer 2026 Legislator of the Year
The County Officials Association of Tennessee (COAT) is proud to recognize Representative Andrew Farmer as its 2026 Legislator of the Year, honoring his engagement with county officials and his work on legislative matters affecting county government across Tennessee.
COAT represents county clerks, state court clerks, registers of deeds, and county trustees throughout Tennessee. The association works with state lawmakers to advance policies that support county government and help local officials effectively serve their communities.
“County officials play an essential role in delivering services to Tennesseans, and the legislative decisions made in Nashville have a direct impact on their ability to do that work,” said Unicoi County register of deeds, Debbie Tittle, president of COAT. “We appreciate Representative Farmer’s engagement with our association and his attention to issues affecting county officials. We are pleased to recognize his contributions with this year’s Legislator of the Year award.”
Representative Farmer represents House District 17, which includes portions of Jefferson and Sevier counties, and serves as chairman of the Tennessee House Judiciary Committee. His work in the General Assembly places him at the intersection of legislative policy and issues affecting communities and local government throughout the state.
“COAT is committed to maintaining a strong working relationship with members of the General Assembly to ensure that the perspectives of county officials are heard in the legislative process,” said Brice Hobby, Director of Legislative Affairs for COAT. “Recognizing legislators who engage with our members and understand the responsibilities of county government is an important part of that partnership,” added Ben Rodgers, COAT Executive Director.
COAT congratulates Representative Farmer on this recognition and thanks him for his service to the people of Tennessee.
