As of Saturday evening, the Jefferson County Fair has new royalty. Katelyn Inman was crowned Fairest of the Fair and becomes the 70th young lady to wear the title. Katelyn was chosen out of a field of six to represent the Jefferson County Fair for the next year. A Senior at Jefferson County High School, Inman stated that she was honored to be chosen from such a wonderful group of girls and that she truly enjoyed the friendly competition. Ms. Loretta, who is considered by pageant participants to be Director extraordinaire, and Ms. Janell, pageant Co Director and coach, were on hand to welcome Katelyn to the pageant family. Work will begin soon to prepare for State competition in Nashville and there will be parades and public appearances in the future. In the near future, Katelyn will preside over the remainder of this year’s fair. Beyond crowning the pageant winners, she will spend a great deal of time among the Fair’s patrons. On Saturday evening, however, Katelyn, Ms. Loretta and Ms. Janell were celebrating the results of the hard work that went into this year’s pageant. Choosing the right dress and accessories, preparing for interviews and planning for the events of the next 12 months will wait until next week, when the Midway pulls out of Town. Until then, Jefferson County’s 70th Fairest of the Fair will be holding court among the neon lights.

Runner up for Fairest of the Fair was Autumn Dotson and 2nd runner up was Renee Maynard, who was also chosen by the contestants as Miss Congeniality. Most Photogenic for the pageant was Destiny Bales. Also competing for this year’s title were Haylee Russell and Stacie Parker. Contestants entertained the crowd with a dance routine that emphasized the music and dance styles of the 1970s, in honor of 70 years of the Jefferson County Fair. Reigning Fairest of the Fair, Alexis Whitehead, was joined by 1995 Fairest of the Fair Amber Bradley Annis, Janell Howard Northern 2003 Fairest of the Fair, 2004 Fairest of the Fair Jessica Lichlyter Albright, and 2008 Fairest of the Fair Chalea Devotie.
