Tuesday, August 20th, 2013, the Lady Patriots jump started the volleyball season with what could be called a simply smashing opening. With the Lady Patriots giving the South Doyle Cherokees a spiking defeat, the Lady Patriots were able to walk away with a hat trick of victories. Due to wonderful teamwork and excellent serving, the Lady Patriots won the first game twenty-five to seventeen. Senior Alli Coffee, junior Morgan Ridenour, and sophomore Abby Bateman all showed strong and worked well together, along with the rest of the team, to achieve each win. During the second game, won with a score of twenty-five to thirteen, the South Doyle defense revived and had better volleys between each side but still resigned to the Lady Patriots offense. The final game also went to the Lady Patriots. despite the fact that South Doyle started out with a strong lead. After finding their rhythm, the Lady Patriots rallied and ended the very close game with a defining serve. The triple wins serve to set the Lady Patriots up nicely for their conference match on the road against the Lady Smoky Bears on Thursday, August 22.
