JCHS Cosmetology Students Place For All Three Manikins in TN Valley Fair

JCHS Cosmetology 10302013Jefferson County High School senior cosmetology students place for all three manikins entered into the Tennessee Valley Fair. Claudia Calderon-Vargas (seated left) won 1st place in braid and 5th place in casual categories, and Amber Gilbert (seated right) won 1st place in the formal category. When asked about the competition, Amber replies, “I was beyond excited when my manikin was chosen to represent JCHS at the fair; the manikin turned out so much better than expected. Mrs. Leatherwood really pushed us to do our best.” Claudia included, “I am extremely blessed to have this experience. Mrs. Leatherwood has taught us so much and she always pushes us to excel in everything we do. I was shocked when I found out my manikins would be going to the fair, let alone place first and fifth.” Celebrating the big win featured above are (back row) Ms. Jessica Jennings, Career and Technical Education counselor, Dr. Scott Walker, JCHS principal, and Mrs. Ella Leatherwood, JCHS Cosmetology instructor.
