Frank Herndon is seeking the Republican Party nomination for Jefferson County Clerk in the May 6, 2014 primary election. When asked why he would like to be elected as County Clerk, Frank replied, “I admire the many years of service Rick Farrar has given to our county, and running for County Clerk upon his retirement has been a lifelong goal. I come from a family with strong roots in Jefferson County. Many members of my family have served Jefferson County in various roles. In fact, my grandfather served as County Clerk prior to Rick, and I would be honored to follow those two men as your next County Clerk.”

Herndon is no stranger to serving his community. He grew up in White Pine where he was an active member of First Baptist Church and volunteered for the White Pine Fire Department. He has volunteered with the Jefferson County High School Sports Medicine Program for the past 10 years. Herndon is a paramedic for the Jefferson County Emergency Medical Service where he has worked since 1998. He is currently serving in various other roles that include working in telecommunications at Jefferson County E-911, being an instructor with the Jefferson County EMS Training Center, and serving as the team leader of the safety department at Dollywood’s Splash Country.

Herndon says, “In service-related jobs, it’s extremely important to make people feel comfortable, to be professional, to be honest, and to welcome feedback. Having a job where I can make a difference in my county is truly a blessing, and serving the citizens of Jefferson County is a pleasure. I would love the opportunity to serve Jefferson County as your next County Clerk.”

Frank Herndon is married to Diana Albright Herndon formerly of Jefferson City. Frank and Diana have three children: Jasmine, who is a sophomore at Jefferson County High School; Tanner, who is in fourth grade at New Market Elementary School; and Wayne, who will begin kindergarten this fall. The Herndon family resides in New Market. They are active members of New Market Baptist Church where Frank serves as an usher and Diana is the nursery coordinator.
