The Jefferson County Patriots basketball team completed a perfect regular season in district play Friday night(14-0). The Patriots won the opening tip and dominated the game throughout, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. Jefferson County came in to the contest boasting the district’s best scoring defense, holding opponents to just 43.4 points per game. They did nothing to hurt that average holding the Cherokee Chiefs to just 28 points on senior night.

All of the seniors would start for the Patriots in the first quarter. Noah Carter would score 8 of his 12 points in the first and the Patriots lead, 20-4, after one. The scoring would get a little more even in the second quarter, but Jefferson County held 29-14 lead at the half. Senior, Brice Cusick, would score 5 of his 14 points in the third quarter, and the Patriots would take a 41-25 advantage into the fourth. The Patriots would outscore the Chiefs 14-3 in the last stanza and Jefferson County would roll to a perfect record on senior night, 55-28.

Jefferson County would have 4 players score in double figures led by senior Brice Cusick, with 14. John Bryant would score 13, while Noah Carter and Kyle Briggs each scored 12. Senior Corey Jenkins added 3 points, while Daniel Kirk chipped in 1.

With the win Jefferson County improves to 25-4 overall and will be the number one seed in next week’s district tournament. Jefferson County High School will be the host of the district tournament next week that will begin on Monday. Both the boy’s and girl’s teams from JCHS will receive a double bye in the tournament and will not play until Saturday the 15th.
