Recently, Davenport has put his investigative talents toward solving cold cases and has garnered attention from across the state for his efforts. In his remarks to his supporters, Davenport stated his determination to establish and maintain good working conditions for employees of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, as well as a commitment to head the charge in the fight against drugs in Jefferson County. Davenport turned in his qualifying petition to the Jefferson County Election Office and has met the requirements imposed by the State of Tennessee to qualify as a candidate for the office of Sheriff. Davenport will be a part of a three way contest in the Republican primary, facing off against incumbent Sheriff McCoig and Mike Kearney. Jefferson County voters will go to the polls on May 6, 2014, to cast their vote in the primary election.
