Four AP Economics students were invited to compete at the state level of the National Economics Challenge.  This was a first time that any student from Jefferson County has been invited to compete at this level.  The group traveled to Nashville on Friday, March 21st, to compete in the contest.   Brandon Chambers, Christian (Stone) Payne,  Katelyn (Alex) Bolinksy, and Spencer Edmonds made the trip to represent Jefferson County High School where they competed against other AP and advanced students in the contest.  They demonstrated their knowledge in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and international events.  The initial qualifying students were:  Brandon Chambers, Christian (Stone) Payne,  Katelyn (Alex) Bolinksy, and Corey Jenkins.  However, Corey Jenkins was unable to make the trip; Spencer Edmonds served as the alternate for the team.

The state level of the competition took place at Tennessee State University in Nashville.  The group made it to the final round; they competed against McCallie School.  The final score was 6-4 (McCallie).  Placing 2nd in the state was a great accomplishment for these students.  This is the first year that both AP Microeconomics and AP Macroeconomics have been offered at JCHS.
