Lakeway Fire Department Distributing Smoke Detectors Door-to-Door

The Tennessee State Fire Marshall’s Office has provided 100 free smoke alarms to the residents in the Lakeway Central Fire Department’s area.

These alarms have a sealed battery that lasts for 10 years and are at no cost to the residents.

The firefighters and emergency medical responders of the Lakeway Central Fire Department will be going door-to-door to ask residents if they wish for us to install new smoke alarms in their home.

Whether a renter or homeowner, everyone can take part in this program.

This is a very simple process, no more than hanging a picture.

Once the 100 alarms have been installed and the paperwork filled out, the State Fire Marshall’s Office will provide another 100 alarms to be installed and so on.

This program has already saved many lives across the state thanks to the residents having working smoke alarms installed in their homes under this program.

James Roy, Captain/Training Officer, Lakeway Central Fire Department said, “I would like to say that this program would not have started in our area if it had not been for Chief Lee Turner of the Jefferson City Fire Department. He initiated this program for the city residents and their community has become safer because of it. We want to deliver that same level of service to our community. This is truly a great opportunity for our department to get to know our neighbors while providing a much needed service.”
