TWRA hosted their annual free fishing day on Saturday and the local turn out was great as anglers of all ages came out looking to catch the big one. Some were making their very first cast and some just the first cast of the season, but all were geared up and ready to go. Tennessee residents and non residents were able to take advantage of a day of fishing without the necessity of a license. For teens and children under the age of 15, Saturday kicked off an entire week of license free fishing, ending on Friday, June 13, 2014.

To coincide with the free fishing opportunity and to promote outdoor fun, TWRA held several kids’s fishing events across the state. In Jefferson County, the stocked pond on the Wells House property was the place to fish on Saturday morning and for those in Grainger County the Buffalo Springs Fish Hatchery was one of the places that young anglers put in a line. TWRA Officers were on hand to assist the kids and assure that a great and safe time was had by all in attendance.
