New Market Elementary School hosted their annual Softball Game and fundraiser for Relay for Life. Always a successful community event, parents and students were joined by members of the community to cheer on teachers and the local fire department as they went head to head on the field. Students danced for the crowd and enjoyed raffle prizes donated by local businesses, as well as fun refreshments. It was a busy evening full of giggles and good natured competition. At the close of the event, Vickie Forgety, Principal at New Market School, Officer Dunbar and Mrs. Pat Long, a cancer survivor, took the ALS bucket challenge, as tubs of ice cold water were ceremoniously dumped on their heads for a great cause, leaving the trio dripping wet and the students in peals of laughter. Principal Forgety said, “One important lesson we want to teach our children is to give back to the community”.
