Walter State Students Selected for Honor Society
Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for community college students, has welcomed almost 100 Walters State students this semester.
In order to join this prestigious group, students are required to have at least a 3.5 GPA after completing at least 15 hours of college credit. Students must almost be enrolled in a degree program. The local chapter of PTK is very involved in projects promoting scholarship, leadership and community service.
From ANDERSON COUNTY, Katie George, a pre-dental hygiene major from Andersonville, is a new inductee.
CLAIBORNE COUNTY inductees include Tyler Cornelius, an electromechanical/engineering technology major from Harrogate; and Kimberly Slayton, a teaching major from New Tazewell. Preston Evans, a secondary education major from Speedwell, is also an inductee. Students inducted from Tazewell are Kennadee Daniels, a teaching major; Nicole Oakes, a general studies major; Morgan Payne, a general studies major; and Kenneth Wynn, a computer science major.
COCKE COUNTY inductees are Dale Henne, a hotel management major; Victoria Huff, a general studies major; and Ariel Parks, a general studies major. All are from Newport.
GRAINGER COUNTY inductees are Hannah Vail, a general studies major from Bean Station; and, from Rutledge, Seth Coffey and Aaron May, both general studies majors.
GREENE COUNTY inductees include, from Afton, Melissa Koehler, a health information technology major; and from Chuckey: Matthew Donaldson, a general studies major; and Lauren Dunbar, a general studies major. Greeneville residents inducted are Meghan Barnes, a pre-medicine major; Katelyn Bowman, a social work major; Seth Cooter, a general studies major; Mistie Craig, a business major; Christian Dawson, a psychology major; Konnor Donahue, a general studies major; Heather Godsey, a general studies major; Kyndra Hamilton, a pre-medicine major; Louissa Hoyt, a pre-nursing major; Julie-Anna McDonald, a pre-nursing major; Debra Solenberger, a pre-nursing major; Megan Sturdivant, a pre-nursing major; and Brian Wyatt, a general studies major. Savannah Creel, a general studies major from Mosheim, and Caleb Julian, a general studies major from Mohawk, are also new inductees.
HAMBLEN COUNTY inductees include the following Morristown residents: Merri Barnousky, a general studies major; Tamar Barnousky, a pre-medicine major; Selena Collins, a psychology major; Taelor Hale, a general studies major; David Harris, a business management major; Maranda Jenkins, a pre-nursing major; Haley Jinks, a general studies major; Katrina Musick, a general studies major; Kayleigh Neilson, a pre-radiography major; Whitney Newman, a psychology major; Jordan Owen, a general studies major; Trey Potts, a general studies major; Ashlyn Taylor, a general studies major; and Allison Thomas, a general studies major. Kristy Smith, a general studies major from Russellville, was also inducted. Talbott residents inducted are Kimberly Howell, a social work major; and Alexandra Whitmill, a general studies major. From Whitesburg, Mark Gulley, a paralegal studies major; and Charlie Hopkins, a computer science major were honored.
HAWKINS COUNTY inductees include, from Rogersville, Pamela Collins, a psychology major; Andrew Hensley, an engineering technology/electromechanical major; Maria Rice, a pre-nursing major; Crystal Stewart, a general education major; and Tanner Trent, a general studies major.
JEFFERSON COUNTY inductees include Dandridge residents Zachary Hubard, a general studies major; Abby Lewis, an art major; Michael Miranda, a basic emergency medical technician major; Cynthia Moore, a general studies major; Ashley Newell, an English major; Stacie Parker, a general studies major; Megan Poore, an engineering major; Alexis Stumbo, a general studies major; and Amber Taylor, a pre-nursing major. New inductees from Jefferson City are Justin Dickerson, an agriculture business major; Bree Eccles, a general studies major; Katrina Eccles, a general studies major; Jade Merritt, a general studies major. Sandy Smith, a nursing major from New Market; and Mattie Smith, a general studies major from Strawberry Plans, are new members. Students from Talbott inducted are Michael Creazzo, a general studies major; Alyssa Culver, a general studies major; and Sara Hickey, a pre-nursing major. From White Pine, Rebecca Carson, a general studies major; is a new inductee.
SEVIER COUNTY inductees include Grant Alford, a culinary arts major; and Brik Kochoian, a general studies major, both from Gatlinburg. Kodak residents are Mariah Billings, Sabrina Hall, and Hannah Hammontree, all general studies majors. Yana Koroleva, a chemistry major from Pigeon Forge, is also a new inductee. Students honored from Sevierville are Hannah Dulaney, a general science major; Courtney Feliz, a pre-physical therapy major; Nathan Fitch, a general studies major; Lauren Hatcher, a pre-nursing major; Tasha Horsley, a general studies major; Mendy Maxwell, a general studies major; Shelby Maxwell, a general studies major; Sunny Moyers, a general studies major; and Heather Sutton, a general studies major. From Seymour, Matthew Carter, a general studies major, is also an inductee.
SULLIVAN COUNTY inductees are Jenny Kellam, a health information technology major, and Crystal Nave, a pre-nursing major, both from Johnson City.
From UNION COUNTY, Amanda Walker, a pre-nursing major from Maynardville, is a new inductee.
