Jefferson County Republican Party Hosts Meet The Candidate In Dandridge
The Jefferson County Republican Women Of The Future held a Meet the Candidate event Saturday morning in the Historic Jefferson County Courthouse in Dandridge. Both local and state level elected officials were on hand to address the public. Early voting for the March 1st election begins on February 10, 2016 and candidates were out stumping for favor with local voters. In Jefferson County, the local contested race on the March 1st ballot is that of Property Assessor. Incumbent Susan Gass will face challenger Ryan Cavanah and both spoke at the event. Also addressing the public were Senator Frank Niceley, Representative Jeremy Faison and Representative Andrew Farmer, who also answered questions from the public. Though there are no state elections on the March 1st ballot, one Representative seat is already seeing action. Mike McCarter has announced his candidacy for the District 11 House seat that is currently held by incumbent Jeremy Faison. McCarter took the podium at Saturday’s event to introduce himself to the courtroom. The Republican Women of the Future provide the venue to encourage the public to engage in the electoral process and promote exercising the right to a voice in government through voting.
