The Habitat for Humanity of Jefferson County hosted a Volunteer Roundup at their ReStore on Saturday.  Habitat Director Sheila Wiggins introduced the 2 new store co-managers, Gail Steiver and Judy Furguson, who told us about some of the exciting new changes going on at the store.  From sorting through and organizing items to make them more accessible, to rallying the volunteers to help at the store, Gail and Judy have been very hands-on at The ReStore.

Saturday at the store is very busy with shoppers, and there are many opportunities for the community to help out, which was the reason for the Open House on Saturday.

Some of the needs to be filled are:

Cashiers to greet customers, assist customers with merchandise questions, checkout customers, and straighten merchandise in the showroom.

Stock people in the clothing departments

Help in the Warehouse with donation pickups and drop-offs, as well as assisting customers with appliances, outside building supplies, and questions.

Volunteers can give as little or as much time as they can throughout the week, and can pick up an application at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore on Hwy 92N in Jefferson City, or call 865-471-0069. People of all skillsets are needed, even if one would like to come by and simply iron clothing.

The ReStore is also taking donations, which can be dropped off on-site.  Even clothing with holes can be recycled; just make sure that it’s bagged and labeled as such.

The hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday 9-4 and Saturday 9-3.
