Jefferson City Public Library Summer Reading Program

Jefferson City Public Library (JCPL) offers the following programs for the month of May 2019:

SUMMER LEARNING PROGRAM BLAST OFF! TUESDAY, MAY 28 AT 2 PM! THEME: A UNIVERSE OF STORIES

Readers of all ages will explore all things space this summer as Jefferson City Public Library presents “A Universe of Stories” during their summer library program. Activities may include games, space-related crafts, art projects, science and engineering experiments, and more.

The 2019 Summer Learning Program is open to young people, preschool through young adult, with programs, prize drawings, storytimes, exciting challenges, and more.

All programs are free of charge.

CHILDREN and TWEEN PROGRAMMING –

Wednesdays, May 1, 8, 15, 29 at 10:30 am – Storytime Go! Geared toward 3-5 year olds, this program is designed to promote children’s early literacy skills as well as inform care-givers about their crucial role at this stage of their child’s literacy development. Each Storytime is followed by an art activity, so be prepared to get messy! No storytime May 22.

Thursdays, May 2, 9, 16, 30 at 10:30 am – Little Listeners – This is an early literacy-based program geared toward babies and toddlers under 36 months. It’s a great way for caregivers to share songs, books, and fun with their children. No storytime May 23.

Thursday, May 2 at 4:30 pm – Pokémon Club – Join us as we play (and learn to play) the Pokémon Trading Card Game. BYOD (Bring Your Own Deck) or borrow the Librarian’s. This program is for children 8-12. (1st Thursdays)

Thursday, May 9 at 4:30 pm – Tween Manga Club – Tween manga fans unite! Make new friends, talk about manga, watch anime, and try out Japanese snacks! This program is for tweens 10-13. (2nd Thursdays)

Thursday, May 16 at 4:30 pm – LEGO Builders Club – Children will have the opportunity to develop basic STEM skills while challenging themselves with their favorite building material. This program is geared for children 5-12 (& their adults, too!) (3rd Thursdays)

Summer Learning Program Activity, May 28 at 2 pm – MUSE Knoxville will be bringing their Mobile Planetarium to JCPL.

TEEN PROGRAMMING –

Friday, May 17 at 4:00 pm – Empowered Youth – Join other teens passionate about developing our personal well-being and the well-being of the world around us. We’ll support each other in managing our health, living naturally, and caring for the earth. This program is for teens 14-18. (3rd Fridays)

ADULT PROGRAMMING –

Saturday, May 4 at 11:00 amPlanner Club – Calling all Planner Geeks! Hang out with other planner lovers while getting to plan! Bring your planner and supplies or partake of the library’ stickers, washi tape, and pens. (1st Saturdays)

Tuesday, May 7 at 5:30 pmBook Social for Adults – Make new friends over books! Enjoy tasty refreshments and enthusiastic book discussion about your latest reads. (1st Tuesdays)

Saturday, May 18 at 10:00 am – Art Journaling – For teens and adults. Use scissors, paper, paint, stamps… well, just about everything we can get our hands on to create journal pages. It’s not art, it’s fun. This month we are making rubber stamps, continued from April. (3rd Saturdays)
